Visionaries show strong interest in emerging technology within their field and bring new technologies to current systems to help combat challenges. This event will feature speakers and workshops to help build knowledge in new and emerging technologies.

Brad Dwyer, Hatchlings

Augmented Reality & Machine Learning

Bio

Brad Dwyer is founder and lead developer of Hatchlings. What started as a small project in his dormroom at ISU, Hatchlings snowballed into a global phenomenon considered "The Worldwide Easter egg Hunt". Brad's latest project combines Computer Vision, with Machine Learning, with Augmented Reality.




Britton Langdon, FabPro

Predictive Analytics

Bio

Britton Langdon is the President at FabPro, a construction & manufacturing software company located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. FabPro sells an unmatched, cloud-based software solution aimed at better tracking the status and productivity of the manufacturing and construction processes. Prior to FabPro, Britton served as the Director of Support Operations & Business Development at Modern Piping since October 2013 where he directed their design and manufacturing processes and subsequently sold those services to the industry.

Chris Stewart, SuredBits

Bitcoin/Cryptocurrency

Bio

Chris is the founder of SuredBits -- a cryptocurrency company. Chris has been doing cryptocurrency development since 2014. He is the primary author of bitcoin-s -- an implementation of the bitcoin protocol in Scala. He also is a contributor to bitcoin core -- the reference implementation of bitcoin. Chris is an active contributor to cryptocurrency protocol research along with implementation of that research.

BeraTek is a local company implementing innovative emerging technology. Positioned as a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs they take ideas through the phases of design for manufacturing, tooling, production, warehousing, fulfillment and marketing in preparation for launch.

Bringing Your Vision to Life: Understanding the Customer Journey and the Moments that Matter

Product design and user experience expert Matt Arnold will lead a lively and interactive workshop to help you improve your product and business outcomes. The session will tie together what you’ve learned throughout the day with new ideas you can apply to your organization. The workshop leverages the importance of customer empathy, understanding the customer experience, and how you can identify where your product or service can make the biggest impact – for customers and your business.

Bio

Matt Arnold has more than 20 years of experience in user-centered design, interactive experiences, service design, and branding. He is the UX Director at ConnectFive. He has done strategy and design work for early- and late-stage startups, as well as for some of the country's most recognized brands including Allstate, State Farm, Discover Card, Best Buy, Capella University, and ACT. Matt earned his B.A. in Communication Studies from The University of Iowa and his M.S. from Illinois State University where his research focused the use of technology on improving team outcomes.

3:30pm Fireside Chat with Rob Merritt

Writer Rob Merritt discusses his dive into Transhumanism while writing The Summerland Project, recently adapted into a film production, Amelia 2.0. When the husband of a dying woman is approached by a corporation pioneering a new program to extend life through robotics, they get caught in a public debate over human’s relationship with technology.


Whiskey Friday!
At 4pm on Friday, the gong chimes to kick off Whiskey Friday. A variety of whiskey and spirits will lubricate the conversations and keep the ideas moving. Network with local resources, discuss next steps and the future of our community and emerging technology.
